Sail Training Ship "CREOULA"

"CREOULA" was built by ESTALEIROS NAVAIS DE LISBOA (C.U.F.-Companhia Uniao Fabril) in 1937, she was constructed with a reinforced hull taking into account the icy waters she was to navigate in the north of Newfoundland during her cod fishing enterprises, she accomplished until 1973 thirty seven cod expeditions for their owners, PARCERIA GERAL DE PESCARIAS. After a long period laid-up at Rio Coina, Barreiro, just south of Lisbon, a decision was made following an inspection that proved the excellent condition of the ship in 1980 to transform "CREOULA" in a Sail Training vessel, after a long period of reconversion the ship was handed over to the Portuguese Defence Ministry in 1987 and classified as an "Ocean Training Ship". 1. Passed her off the Algarve in early September 2016. She was heading east with one reef in all of her sails.
